Staubsauger adé

Es ist gar nicht so leicht, über eine Saga zu schreiben, die man vor 25 Jahren selbst mit Haushaltsgeräten nachgespielt hat. Damals, als aus Staubsaugern R2-D2-Roboter und aus Waschmitteltrommeln intergalaktische Jagdmaschinen wurden, als sich schwarze Wohnzimmertische in Todesplaneten und Teppichklopfer in Laserschwerter verwandelten, war die Welt noch einfach und die Macht mit uns, weil man sowieso nicht so genau wusste, woraus sie eigentlich bestand. Damals, Ende der Siebziger, als George Lucas' Star Wars in die Kinos kam, bestaunten wir die riesigen Raumgleiter, imitierten das technizistische Geschwafel von der dreifachen Lichtgeschwindigkeit und freuten uns, wenn Harrison Ford als Han Solo wieder einmal Antriebsprobleme mit seinem scheppernden Schrottgefährt hatte.
Als Mythensteinbruch funktioniert die Star Wars-Trilogie genauso wie die anderen Ewig-Epen der Populärkultur zwischen Gallien und Entenhausen. Die symbolische Ordnung ist überschaubar, das Inventar vertraut, die Aufgabenstellung klar. Ob Dagobert den Glückstaler von Gundel Gaukeley zurückholt, Asterix und Obelix ein Edelweiß in den Schweizer Bergen suchen oder der junge Skywalker "die Macht ins Gleichgewicht bringt", ist letztlich das Gleiche, auch wenn der transzendentale Bombast und die pseudoreligiöse Rhetorik der Star Wars-Sage etwas anderes suggerieren wollen.
