Quote of the day

by Volker Weber

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him his entire life.

Funny, that one has to say this again and again ...

Teach him to pray for fish, he is dead in about a month.

And I just saw, that every seven seconds a child dies of hunger. Every four seconds, someone goes blind because of hunger.

And the politicians who have in the hand to change those 'evil ways' just lament about how bad it is, and then turn to prepare for another unnecessary war.

In response to "Teach him to pray for fish, he is dead in about a month"...he is dead not because he prayed but because he was lazy and did not learn how to take responsibility for his own life and learn to feed himself. God gives us free will and will help show us the way, but we must be willing to put our hopes/needs into action. Perhaps the prayer should be more specific - don't pray for fish - pray that God will send a teacher to show how you can fish for yourself!!

And in response to JayCee's comments about the politicians not doing anything about the hunger in the world. Yes, it is a horrible situation that our leaders need to help solve, but we all have a responsibility in helping others and making this world a better place. I ask, if it bugs you so much to see others hungry, what are you doing about it?? while you sit in the comfort of your own home and enjoy a nice dinner??? It starts with each of us doing our own part - helping ourselves and then helping others.

but first the student has to want to learn or as they used to say: "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink".
