Manches Auto kann einem ganzen Leben Sinn geben. Die Geschichte einer Erfüllung.
Nach ein paar Minuten, als die Maschine an Höhe gewonnen hat und sich in eine Kurve neigt, kann Dressel die Stadt sehen. Die Sonne flutet ihr Licht in die Straßen, auf die Spree, den Alexanderplatz, das Muster der Häuser. Irgendwo da unten müht sich seine Frau in ihrem Golf zur Arbeit. Es war noch dunkel, als sie aus dem Haus ging und er in der Kleingartenanlage Nordend aufs Taxi wartete, in der Hand eine braune Aktentasche. Darin zwei Nummernschilder, B-XB 520, sorgsam umhüllt von zwei Plastiktüten. Seine Initialen, JD, wären Sonderwunsch gewesen und deshalb teurer. Zu teuer, fand Dressel, der nun auf Berlin blickt und ein wenig auch auf seine Vergangenheit, denn an diesem Morgen entschwebt er ihr. Johannes Dressel, geboren 1934, Fahrerlaubnis seit 1957, fliegt zu den Sternen. Nach Sindelfingen. Er holt seinen ersten Mercedes ab.
