The Ultimate Sophistication: Simplicity
by Volker Weber

This may be in your future and you don't even know it yet. Raphaël Szwarc of ZOË fame is working on ZAPPATA Personal Groupware. Although I discussed a few of the ideas behind his project with him it is too early to disclose details. But rest assured that he is not making the same mistakes that a few other players made.
Due next year.

Lets hope we got it right this time around :)
You are entitled to your very own brand new mistakes. :-)
Well _now_ I know it and I want to know more! So is ZAPPATA going to be like a personal WIKI, similar to Voodoo Pad? Does 2004 mean we get more hints in January or do we get to see a beta then? By "not making the same mistakes", do you mean it's not going to be a Windows only, funded by Microsoft, product like Groove?
No, yes, dunno, yes.

Nope. It's more along these buzzwords: P2P, Semantic Web, Social Software.

Beta availbale in Q1 2004.

Yes, among other things...
But I WANT a 4 processor laptop..
Do you mean that I won't NEED one
:)
Hey!
Very hard to scrutinize their kinda blank website! :-)

Oh - there is more than meets the eye on the website ;-) But Raphaël already provided more links in his reply
News from Zappata?
The first quarter is over now. Can we have some more hints about ZAPPATA?
Ohh - looking at the calendar ;-)
Indeed, it is over.
So, more news? How about an axiom: "Building software takes longer than expected"
Good enough? No? I feared so.
Ok, let me tell you about a couple of things that ZAPPATA is not:
- It's not a blogging tool (but you can use it to blog)
- It's not an aggregator (but you can use it read all your RSS / Atom feeds)
- It's not a replacement for Google (but you can search for relevant stuff)
- It's not a replacment for email (but you can use it to communicate, collaborate and commemorate)
- It's not centralized
- It's not proprietary
and -- most importantly:
- it's not finished yet (but we are getting there)
