Good battery performance

This reading is again a bit optimistic. Another two hours and fiftytwo minutes on a 44% charge. But last Monday I was able to check my email throughout the day, keep on top of news, and check a few websites. In the evening I forgot to plug Snoopy in while it was driving a beamer during a panel discussion for more than 90 minutes. I never noticed this SNAFU until I packed up after the event.

I saw a few other guys who shall remain unnamed run out of power on their Thinkpads pretty quickly. One of them lost his machine during a presentation. He could still see the LCD screen but could not drive the external interface to the beamer - a sure sign of not enough power in the machine.

Apple, I am very pleased with this kind of performance. Still, if anybody wants to send me a second battery pack for Snoopy, I won't be returning it. :-)

Part of the reason my battery was deteriorating so fast on Monday was due to the wifi card. It's a huge drain.
The best thing I can say about the battery life on this machine is that it works well in standby mode. I've never bought a Palm/PocketPC/Crackberry because of it -- always have to have my laptop with me anyway, and I can get access to anything in a matter of seconds.

Stop teasing Volker.

Here's clicking on your Google ads. :-)

Now I wish I could say that with a 15" Powerbook. After 2:52 it's time for a nice and juicy power plug. But that's with WLAN on the whole time. Still, Apple claims 1:30 more than I've ever got out of the battery. And I turned off everything!
On the other hand, I'm glad I found ONE thing to complain about on this notebook. Good job Apple!

That is inline with my experience. Apple claims 6 hours for the iBook and I get between 3:30 and 4:30 depending on usage pattern. BT and WLAN are always on for me. I dim the backlight to match the ambient light which saves a lot of battery power.

However I found that the speedy sleep and wake up cycle let me close the machine much more often than a PC notebook. Thus I get a full day of usage out of those 4 hours.

Re ads, here’s hoping Google get the page indexing right... the advertisements are very generic I find.
