A chicken at your command

by Esther Schindler

This is a marketing ploy by Burger King, but I don't care. It's entertainment, baby!

As my buddy Dustin says:

Type in what you want the chicken (or the guy in a chicken suit) to do. I tried to come up with several strange possibilities, thinking that perhaps I could stump it. I have a hard time believing that a) there's a man in a chicken suit just waiting around for internet commands, and b) if there were such a man, that he would have the time to answer my commands in addition to the commands of the many other internet users who are probably logged in at the same time.

This has to be some sort of language recognition software tied to some cataloged video footage, but the chicken did everything I asked him to. Actually, when I told him to re-evaluate his life goals, he just stood there, but other than that he hopped on one leg, moonwalked, crawled on all fours, pretended to have a heart attack (I was sure that would stump him), and took a bow.

No matter how they do it, it's damn funny.

He will "kick the sofa" but will not "kick the TV". He will "jump on top of sofa" but for "jump on sofa" he does the same moves as for "kick the sofa". I guess for some commands he is recognizing just key word.

It's even PC... tell him to get naked ;-)

But when you tell him to go out and have a life, he doesn't really seem to react... Well, what would you expect a chicken to do then? ;-)

Ragnar Schierholz, 2004-04-15 20:52

Wow, you can even tell him to take a book out of the shelve and he'll walk and do so...

Ragnar Schierholz, 2004-04-15 20:53

He seems to be afraid of the dark though, switching off the light doesn't seem to appeal to him...

Ragnar Schierholz, 2004-04-15 20:55

"Make a sandwich" is pretty funny.

And just to spoil the fun, someone with far too much free time made a cheat sheet of all the animations.

Hmmm, he doesn't seem to do much if you tell him to cross the road...

I think he peed on the couch when I told him to "bark like a dog"; man chickens are pretty dumb! :-)

Ken Porter, 2004-04-15 21:59

fun, if you want him to "pick up the thing right beside the chair" ...

LOL The "Cheat Sheet" Does not work. The chicken comes in REAL close to the camera, and then waves his finger at you.

Weird Site
