Share clipboard over the net

by Volker Weber

In the highly collaborative world of business, we constantly share images, copy and a wide variety of other data. Spike eliminates all of the steps involved in transferring this data across a network.

This software is unbelievable:

- See thumbnail images of each clipping
- Drag and drop clippings over the network
- Messages are encrypted using 128 bit blowfish encryption
- Zero Configuration

And in runs on Windows and the Mac.

Hm, I usually am rather sceptic about these tools which "require zero configuration" and claim to "find all the other" yxz clients in the network...
Zero configuration in these cases is most often achieved by massive network protocol overload, e.g. broadcasting availability of the software by each client in shortest intervals.
The claim that "spike is secure" being simply supported by the statement that any traffic is encrypted and you can password-protect your clipboard content sounds a little ambitious (or should I say pretentious?). How are the passwords transmitted? How are the keys for the encryption exchanged?
Opening a network port to accesssuch a low level system service as the clipboard really loudly rings all bells I have!

Zeroconf is a good thing.

Don't copy & paste passwords! :-)

I do hope they know that this is covered by patents...

How do you order this thing?
