What a weekend

We spent two days out in the sun. And it shows. :-)

Saturday was the first day of this year's Nibelungenfahrt. In the late afternoon we manned one checkpoint in Rohrbach and stamped some 80 papers for all the cars in the Challenge competition. It was sunny but getting quite cold in the evening. There was a party in the neighborhood, so we had a dozen kids "helping" us with our task.

Sunday was different. For the first time we drove the whole 200+ km track in front of the other 150 cars. There were some really interesting cars participating: a 1927 Bentley Le Mans VDP, the 1934 Fiat 508 S Balilla Coppa d´Oro, or a 1936 Alvis Speed 25 Sport Special, and newer ones like the 1957 Ford Thunderbird, a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT or a 1973 Maserati Bora. While we we able to take photos of most of the cars in 2001 we hardly had any time at all this year. There were still lots of adjustments to make to signs, give some last minute instructions to the people at the checkpoints, hand out lunch boxes and such. So Hans was driving his Triumph TR4 most of the times at full speed across back country roads. It was quite a challenge to keep up with him. But still, Ute had the time to take some pictures.

Schöne Eindrücke aus der Sicht der "Vorauswagen". Ute hat ein "gutes Auge" für Stimmungen und Details, z.Bsp. der angespannte Blick des Fahrtleiters ....
keep on rallyeing
