Microsoft copies IBM
by Volker Weber
So, Microsoft finally has Express products as well:
The Express products, expanding the Visual Studio product line to include lightweight, easy-to-use, easy-to-learn tools for hobbyists, enthusiasts, and novices who want to build dynamic Windows applications and Web sites.
I think IBM started this with http://ibm.com/software/express.

Frontpage Express? ;-)
I guess they forgot to add the word Express to Exchange when it was released.
Heiko, I am getting second thoughts: "Outlook Express" was before IBM came out with this moniker. Although: Outlook Express and Outlook share nothing but the name.
Actually, IBM shipped "Lotus Notes Express" in 1995, so I think we can still lay claim to having been there/done that first. Though this is the first time in many years I have wanted to associate myself with that unmitigated disaster - it was a mail-only version of Notes 3.x at a time when using Notes for mail only was generally, um, not a good idea. There's a reference to that original Notes Express here.
