Not that it would convince any "patriot"

by Volker Weber

Maybe there's one good reason - just one - for re-electing George W Bush, and that's to force him to live with the consequences of his appalling actions, and answer for his own lies, rather than wish the job on a Democrat who will then get blamed for his predecessor's follies.

It is certainly a sad irony that when Kerry wins, the Republicans will immediately blame anything that goes wrong or have ever gone wrong on him.

When I turned 18 and was excited about voting for the first time, I went to ask my (curmudgeon of a) father for some advice. He took a long drag of his cigarette and said to me: "Vote?.... Vote?..... C0cksuckers, all of them".

He was a wise man.

Fascinating. I think this is a fantastic way for the international community to get involved in the US election. It would be interesting to see the thought process that someone who receives such a letter goes through.
In watching the third debate, one of Dubya's key messages for voters in a place like Clark County was "money in your pocket", referring to the US$400 check every family with children in America received. If the BS detector had been working properly, what would have come out of his mouth would have been "I raided the US treasury to buy your vote. That way you won't get upset while I make my family and friends richer than we ever were before. Who cares about the rest of the world or the defecit your children will have to repay?"

I'm afraid this strategy won't work. Who should force him to taking responsibility? The world outside the US certainly won't because it barely has the means to do so. And neither would the American people because the Bush administration will keep them complying by pressing the panic button i.e. raising the Terror Alert or calling another defenseless country a threat.

Watch it, Joerg, or your country could be next... ;)
