From what I gather you can use a bluetooth headset paired with a Mac to phone with Spype. Is anybody using a setup like that? Does it work well? Or would you rather recommend an old-fashioned headset w/ cable?

i have absolutly no experiences using a bluetooth headset. i prefer using a handset instead of a headset, since that gives me a more telephone alike feeling while using skype.

the one i am using is from eutectics and you can see it here.

it is very minimalistic in features, it offers no buttons or a builtin ring signal or led, its just a audioin/audioout usb device without need of a soundcard itself.

i have no clue if the builtin hookswitch function (so you can answer and hangup by just picking up the phone or placing it back to its "cradle") works with a mac ;)

Joerg, I do use a Bluetooth headset (Motorola HS 810) with my Powerbook and Skype. Works well, no reason to complain.

I am trying to connect my Bluetooth headset Ericsson HBH-600 to my powerbook but it rufuses and says the powerbook (G4 800) doesnt work with the computer.

How did your friend do?????

Tomas Brodin, 2005-02-17 18:15

Just to let the last poster know that it is indeed possible to get the HBH-600 to work as a Skype headset with the Powerbook 15" 1 Ghz. The clue, which took me time to figure out, was to actually run the Bluetooth Updater you find in the Applications folder. This is probably up to date via the usual SW updates, but it has to be run explicitly. It adds headset capabilities to Bluetooth on the Mac.

Now that I have it working, I am looking for easy ways to switch back and forth between my mobile phone and Skype. Since the HBH-600 can only talk to one device at a time, I need an easy way to switch.

Hi, I've been trying to get an HBH-600 headset to work with OS X 10.4 but it won't recognise it as a device... Is there something I'm missing? Are there some online instructions someone can point me to? Thanks! Ian
