too bad its mac only :/
ps: got a mac sitting on my desk now, an only imac, but it refuses to work. i hear the chime but then the screen gets dispowered again (i can hear the cracking sound from the tube - and the power led starts to flicker. i cant use the powerswitch again until i completely unplug it from its powercord.
think its just dead :(
Sacha, try PodUtil or similar if you need something similar on the PC (loads of links at iPodLounge.com)
@Sascha - The flyback transformer on the power/analog video (PAV) board is dead. CRT iMacs are notorious for this. The Apple price for replacement is a bit steep these days (they replace the video board as well), given the price of a Mac Mini, but Jim Chen at fbtmaster.com can get you a replacement for just the transformer. He is in Vancouver, but ships almost anywhere, I believe, if you can manage a soldering iron.
David, thanks for the info ;) now all i need is a site showing me how to disassemble my imac.
i wrote some things about it on my site.
having a healthy imac would make me happy ;)
