Nah, they just found *the* secure platform for Windows Server 2003.

Stefan Rubner, 2005-12-10

Stefan, the "secure platform" for Windows Server 2003 would be a small pedestal made from granite, where you'll out the CD on and leave it there. The granite pedestal would feature brand new technologies, such as "NoXaa" (no execute at all) and more, to provide a secure computing environment with no buffer overflows, no remote vulnerabilities — and no output. Of course, in this environment, companies like Symantec or McAfee would be out of business…

Karsten, you didn't get my point. Because downloading Windows Server 2003 to a Mac would be equally secure than putting it on a stone pedestal. No, it'd be even more secure because from the pedestal some unsuspecting user could grab the CD and try to install the contents on an Intel system (God beware). On the Mac however, it could just occupy disk space without any sane user ever trying to run the software. And even if one would try, there's no chance of success. That would even fulfill the NoXaa requirement ;)

but maybe, just maybe, this is the first glimps of Windows running on apple hardware ....

Thomas Nowak, 2005-12-11

Thomas, Windows is already running on Apple hardware. "The Apple hardware of the future", so to say.

Microsoft is just encouraging folks to use the trial version on Virtual PC :)
