A Cool New iPod Accessory
by Ken Porter
Apple and the Chrysler Group announced Sunday that Chrysler will provide full iPod integration as an option in most of its 2006 models. This is true integration meaning that the radio and steering wheel controls will control the iPod, and that information from the iPod will display on the car's radio display.
This is a significant announcement for a couple of reasons. First off, Chrysler sells over 3 million cars a year in the US which makes it one of the largest automotive companies to provide true iPod integration. Second, with this announcement “Over 40 percent of all cars sold in the US in 2006 will offer iPod connectivity.”
Are there any car manufacturers that provide integration with products like Dell's DJ?

not that impressive - now if i could steer the car with the ipods click wheel... ;)
Many manufacturers are now including a 3.5mm jack e.g. new Toyota Aygo and Lexus IS models, but full integration is rare.
That Dell thing is unusual, it looks like a disposable cigarette lighter.
That's an accessory for my iPod which i would really like.
What's the blue border around the image?
That deal apply only to Chrysler Group, or also to Daimler Benz?
This is awesome! I would like it for my ipod.
And if you don't own a Chrysler
Egor, the integration first appeared in Mercedes-Benz cars. I am not familiar with the prerequisites, but I heard that it does require a quite expensive car stereo to work.
Moritz, Ken forgot the border="0" attribute and you are probably on IE ...
Ben, this accessory is just nonsense. :-)
Nonsense? Why?
I've ordered a Volvo last week, the feature list promises "full iPod integration in on board HiFi System". I'll see.... in April.
A Volvo? Quite a step from the Honda S2000.
company car policy has changed, family size has changed... though there is a small chance to keep the S2000: if the dealer gives me a good price I buy it privately as a toy.
