Mario Sixtus hat für heise eine kleine Jubelarie geschrieben: Mabber will SMS den Garaus machen. Ich wäre nicht ganz so optimistisch. Wenn die Falten rausgebügelt sind, wird das bestimmt 'ne schöne Sache, aber "SMS den Garaus machen" scheint mir derzeit doch sehr vermessen.

Ich werde das Ding auf jeden Fall mal testen (vorrausgesetzt, ich bekomme ein Invite) - erwarte allerdings nach deinem letzten Artikel über mabber nichts großes - aber ich harre mal der Dinge die da kommen.
Im übrigen finde ich den Artikel auf heise doch ein wenig - sagen wir mal.. öööhm.... zu optimistisch? (um es irgendwie diplomatisch auszudrücken..)
Das war genau mein Gedanke, als ich die Überschrift gelesen habe. Einem so weit verbreiteten und regelrecht in den Verhaltensweisen der grössten Nutzerschaft (Teenager) verankerten Dienst wie SMS kann man nicht so eben ausbooten.
mabber hat ein ehrenwertes Ziel.
GPRS Traffic ist immerhin deutlich billger als die berühmte SMS Abzocke. Ich hab einen neuen Tarif mit schlechten Konditionen und ich ärgere mich jedes mal über die 20 Cent.
Es ist aber mehr eine PR und Marketing Magie, die Mabber vollbringen muss.
Natürlich ist es irre schwer kritische Masse zu erreichen und User auf eine neue Plattform zu hiefen.
Ein geniales Feature waere z.B. mit einem GPRS Java Client SMS verbilligt und reply-fähig zu verschicken. Aber bleibt dann viel Marge?
