Seth Godin: "All Marketers are Liars"

by Volker Weber

I have finally gotten around to watch the video of Seth Godin's talk at Google. That were 48 minutes well spent. Most interesting were the concerns that showed up in the Q&A, especially around the Google search appliance and Google Map. Seth has an excellent way of addressing those issues.

I also understand now, why companies like to give me stuff. :-)

Small correction though: The water in the United States is not the best in the world. It usually tastes like whirlpool on the rocks. If you however come to Munich, don't buy bottled water. Drink from the tab. And take some home in your empty bottle.

I agree. Worth every minute. I also think that your idea for a non-business card is a clear example of the fashion/permission cycle he talks about.

Not only water, even tapped Coke/Sprite tastes like "whirlpool on the rocks".

Well, the ice made out of this water.

I know ;)

depends on where you go-

Don't go drinking it in Illesheim. You'll feel the mineral deposits growing on the sides of your throat as you try to choke it down.

When I was in the army, I would not drink the water in Illesheim even with that burning hangover thirst the morning after about 15-20 Heffeweizens. heheheheh

Water is generally good in Atlanta, especially Gwinnett County where I live. That is, with the exception of where I live now. You can smell the frikin chlorine in it...not appetizing.

I agree on the video, and on the water in some places.

I've never found any tapwater in Florida, Arizona, or California to be tolerable. On the other hand, 6 miles 'upstream' from me is where they pump the water out of the ground and into the bottles for "Poland Spring" water (now owned by the Swiss, oddly enough).

I cannot tell you how many times I've tried to explain to my wife that she's paying all that money for a plastic bottle filled with EXACTLY what comes out of our tap.

It does no good.
