Google green bars

by Volker Weber

Do you want to see the Google "green bars" layout experiment that's being shown to random searchers for quite a while now? Simply copy and paste this link into your browser address bar when you're on Google.com, reload the page, and then search for something. The result should now appear as in the screenshot above.

Tipp: Für deutsche User einfach den Teil "domain=.google.com" in "domain=.google.de" im Javascript-Code ändern, dann geht's auch mit der deutschen website.

Doesn't work for me in Firefox 1.5.0.1, neither with Google.com nor with Google.ch :-( Possibly there's a conflict with an extension, likely the Google Preview, which also displays its results left of the search results...

Update: Just tried in IE, no results... what exactly am I doing wrong here? Yes, my browsers do allow cookies, no, my firewall does not block them anyway. Anything else?
Actually, Firefox does even show the cookies when I inspect the cookies via the options dialog and in the cookies directory for IE I can see the files for google.de, google.ch and google.com as well.

Doesn't work :\. What can I do wrong? Opera 8.53, firewall off, cookies allowed. Problem exact as Ragnar's

Quite a smart move for the Google guys to outsource their customer support department for advanced features to external blogs :)

Works beatiful in Opera 8.52.

Just do as Volker wrote.

1. go to Google.com
2. search for something
3. copy paste the javascript and feed it to the browser
4. go back to your search
5. reload

... does this make it easier to understand ??

Easier: Just go to http://xrl.us/googlebars instead of to plain google.com (source: from the original posting's comments). Question is: is this better than the default UI or not?
