New lens
by Volker Weber

This is my favorite Nikon lens so far. 85 mm 1:1.8 AF D. We borrowed (an older) one for Lotusphere and Ute used it extensively for all indoor shots at the opening session. We finally have our own.

nice lens :) how many in the collection now?
Just three. The 18-70mm that came with the camera, a 50mm 1:1.8 and now a 85mm 1:1.8. The prime lenses give me much better results than the zoom lens.
Really? I hate my 50/1.8, it's soft wide open and becomes sharp and contrasty only at >f/2.8. My 18-70 is way better optically than the 50mm, except for distortion, and it is a lot slower unfortunately. The 85/1.8 is a really good glass!
Moritz, you might have got a typical "monday production run", then. I know the Nikkor 50/1.8, 50/1.4, the Canon 50/1.8 and 50/1.4 which are all exceptional lenses if compared to zooms. My favourite still is the Canon 50/1.8, just call it flavor.
