This is rather horrifying!
There was tremendous fuss when a few years ago, childrens' playgrounds in Britain started to get surfaced with rubberised material instead of asphalt and grit - the concern went to the tune 'aren't we overprotecting our next generation?'
Well, if kids are going to muck around like that... imagine the damage that would have been done to those girls if they had crashed head-first onto asphalt; it doesn't bear thinking about.
Which is not to say they aren't a bunch of plonkers, of course.....
