Expedite your Notes Mac beta

by Volker Weber

Ed has posted a link to the Notes 7.0.2 for Mac beta 2. I have heard reports, that people have been able to download without being a part of the managed beta program. You just need to login with your IBM id. In case this should not be intended, I would act reasonably quickly.

I got it and will get some Mac users to test it out. I wasn't "supposed" to be in the beta that I'm aware of. I'm not a Mac user, but did watch the install earlier. The install was fast. The only question I have is why the DMG file only had one file in the archive? Why not just download the install file? Like I said, I'm not much of a Mac guy (although I do think they are great), so this may be normal.

Yes, this is normal. What you see was not a file, but an icon which represents a bundle. You cannot download a bundle. Instead you place the bundle inside a drive image and distribute this.

I love the way software installation works on the Mac, although it was very confusing at first because there is nothing stopping you from running it right out of the drive image. After deleting a couple of .dmg files and finding the software also gone, we decided we'd better RTFM :)

d/l in progress. Thanks for the hint...

Woot! Finally -- scrolling with the mouse wheel inside of message windows works. And the File Open/Save dialog boxes. And, and, and... Notes 7 seems to respond much faster than 6.5.4.

On the other side, Notes still talks germish with me, but I think that's a problem with our Notes administrators providing localized content for german users.
