One dead BlackBerry Pearl

by Volker Weber

When I pulled it out of my shirt pocket, the screen was all messed up. A reset does not help. I think this has to go into the shop.

Do you know what might have caused the crash? Curious ...

I would suggest a mechanical failure like a broken display. However, there is no way I could have done that in my shirt pocket. I suspect it was a fatigue fracture. One last vibration and it was gone.

Come on, now: whom did you hug for that to happen? ;-)

The Pearl is quite sensitive in the daily use. Very often when I grab it I accidentally come in contact with the trackball or the keys and cause some unintentional signals ... you can't lock it every time to prevent electrical noise.

You can. It is one of the best Pearl secrets. Hold the mute button for one second and it goes to standby. From there it only wakes up when a call comes in or when you press mute again.

Cool. Thank you, Volker!

Thanks for the tip. As expected, it works on the 8800 as well

Yes, but on the 8800 mute is on the right, where it is on the left on the Pearl. Confuses the hell out of me, since I use both of them.

Oh. Someone read the f**king manual. :-)
