Best Firefox shortcut ever
by Volker Weber
Command-T opens a new tab in Firefox. But as I just learned, Command-Shift-T opens the tab you just accidentally closed. I don't know how often that shortcut would have saved my ... you know what it would have saved. Awesome.

cool, works in Windows too - of course with Strg-Shift T
I use Ctrl-F12 for the same function, but this might only work because I have the Tab Mix Plus Firefox extension installed. It's by far my favorite extension for overall browser usability. I've blogged about it here: http://www.lotusguru.com/d6plinks/JDOZ-6UWNSG
The other really cool shortcut in this genre is Ctrl-Alt-T, which opens a new tab to the same location as the currently selected tab (with all the history of the original tab included). Very helpful if you want to keep your current place on a site but also branch off in a new direction.
Well, sure, this short-cut comes in handy, but I already had this functionality available since Firefox 2.0.0 (if I remember correctly). Just right-click into the tab bar and select "Undo close tab". If you don't see a tab bar, e.g. because you closed the last but one tab and your tab bar disappears with only one tab open, no problem: Open a new (blank) tab and then proceed as usual.
And then there is History->Recently Closed Tabs to undo the close on any recently closed tab.
I think we have 'em all now. ;-)
Gordon Bennet, you start with the 'best *placeholder for some fantastic item of reality* ever' as well? I thought that was a weird illness successfully confined inside digg, but no, it's on the loose. Save your children!
:)
Sorry for that. However, I think the best Firefox shortcut *ever* would be if it opens with the page I was just thinking about...even if my idea of the page I am looking for is fuzzy, badly detailed and possibly even wrong.
awesome tip :o)
Jan-Piet, there's one more: middle-click into the empty space in the tab bar.
@Oliver, middle-click? Us Macheads have only just realised we might need a right-click...
Stuart - the best combination is a Mac with a 'Windows' mouse. Middle clicking links is also great!
Bacon!
cool, nice shortcut. Thank you.
switch between the tabs = CTRL + TAB
Ctrl + Enter Adds www. and .com to whatever you have in the address bar or Ctrl+ Shift + Enter is .org
