NZL 92 beats ITA 95 five to nil

This went much smoother for Emirates Team New Zealand than I expected. 5:0 is pretty depressing for Luna Rossa. Let's hope that Alinghi can defend the Auld Mug.

EtNZ have proven to be the strongest team so far and sure deserved to win the Louis Vitton cup however, according to many, 5-0 doesn't pay justice to ita95 either.

For sure the upcoming races with Alinghi will be very interesting.

Go the KIWIS!!! :)

Ok so its a multinational team really but it would be wonderful to bring the cup back to New Zealand so I don't have to stay up all night watching the darn thing! ;)

As with Colin, I must stridently and respectfully disagree with "Let's hope that Alinghi can defend the Auld Mug" Volker. We want it back in New Zealand!

M.

Finally something we cannot agree on. :-)

SUI against NZL is a true grande finale and, sorry guys, Alinghi will win for sure after a tough fight. As predicted.

Im with Michael & Colin, GO the ETeamNZ, I sure hope that they can bring the cup back, From the results so far, we have a good chance, been an unbiased kiwi my prediction is 5-2 to ETeamNZ.

My prediction is that a Kiwi skipper will win the cup...:)

GO THE KIWIS!!!

Good to see that you have so many loyal Kiwi supporters Volker ... and here they are all disagreeing with you! I'm with the other Kiwis. :o)

Mike Burford, 2007-06-07 06:54

Just to provide a bit of support to Volker and the europeans, my support is behind Alinghi!

I must say though, I am happy (and not surprised) to see TNZ win the Louis Vuitton!

I'm a little disappointed the final was so one-sided, as after the semis I thought the Italians would give the Kiwis a fight. But some interesting tactical decisions from the Italians saw them always on the back foot, suffering the same fate they dished out to the Americans.

I can't wait for the Cup matches, lets hope it stays with SUI and we have a repeat event in Valencia in a few years!!

Colin, do they got a better mast this year? :-)

Well, I have to admit that the straight 5:0 win by NZL got me a little worrying about the Alinghi, but I am still confident that the trophy will stay in Geneva.

The Auld Mug is of national importance to us because if we loose it, we have no defense left against the Austrians when they tease us about the scoresheets of our downhill skiers. ;-)
