How to replace the pink and purple login picture in Leopard

by Volker Weber

I could not take it anymore ...

cd /System/Library/CoreServices/
sudo mv DefaultDesktop.jpg DefaultDesktop.jpg.original
sudo cp /Library/Desktop\ Pictures/Aqua\ Blue.jpg DefaultDesktop.jpg

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Amen!!!!!!! What was Apple thinking with Leopard and those horrid backgrounds.

Thank goodness. Best tip on leopard I've seen!

Hehe, that's one of the things I did first. I like the possibility to change the dock picture as well - I use a black Dock from LeopardDocks.com now.

Wow, love the LeopardDocks site... Thanks Martin.

Could you post a screenshot of said window for Windows users like me, so we've got something to laugh at for once?

(Who knows, maybe I'm the only one at this site :)

It's not a window, but a horrible wallpaper.

Here is a blue version that anyone can use. :-)

thank you , this is awesome. ;-)

Isn´t that an aurora?

I concur that the login screen is too much.

But I must say that Leopard is really a lot more beautiful than Tiger. I found Tiger blurry on my 667 MHz TiBook, Leopard has made it shine again! Antialiased text is so much nicer now, and the black & white backdrops look sooo cool with the titanium frame!

Thanks. Just upgraded to Leopard, and this was nearly the first thing i did. If only there was a hack for this to disable the transparent menu bar...

@Dirk: There is. Check out this blog post on The Unofficial Apple Blog.
