Google Calendar syncs with BlackBerry
by Volker Weber
Starting today, you can use Google Sync for mobile to synchronize your BlackBerry handheld with Google Calendar. Simply go to http://m.google.com/sync in your mobile browser to download and install the Google Sync for mobile application. Once installed, simply click on the Google Sync icon, sign in to your Google Account or your Google Apps account, and that's it. The Calendar application on your BlackBerry will always be synchronized with your Google Calendar. You can even edit events or create new ones on the handheld.

Does this work in addition to the wireless synch with my corporate email system (Outlook), i.e. does the BB act as a conduit between GCal and Outlook/Exchange?
So far i managed to sync a few Test-Meetings from GCAL to Notes (BES) and vv.
works for me only for new calendar entries. I am using google hosted apps calendar and Domino BES. Still have not found our how to force an initial complete sync.
This has worked perfectly for me. My family uses Google calendar to schedule our home lives, and the sync tool allowed me to choose as many of the (many) subscribed calendars as I wanted. When my wife put a new appointment on the calendar for our daughter, it showed up on my Blackberry auto-maGically. Very cool.
The only drawback is that the entries from alternate calendars aren't flagged as such in the Blackberry. Fortunately, they're self-explanatory because of the content. But some sort of (configurable) visual cue would be nice.
