by Volker Weber
CUPERTINO, California—February 5, 2008 — Apple today added new models of the iPhone and iPod touch which have double the memory, doubling the amount of music, photos and videos that customers can carry with them wherever they go. The revolutionary iPhone now comes in a new 16GB model for $499, joining the 8GB model for $399. iPod touch now comes in a 32GB model for $499, joining the 16GB model for $399 and the 8GB model for $299.

Those $100 price steps really come in handy if you have trouble memorizing numbers. :-)
32Gb is starting to make the touch interesting. $500 makes it less so. It'll take another couple of revisions before price and capacity hit the sweetspot for me.
I love my Touch but since I already have a 16GB one and I take up about 50% of it with a handful of recent CDs and about 12 hrs of videos for traveling - I won't be rushing to upgrade. Even if I were buying new I would stick with the 16GB one for video and keep my 80gb classic for music.
I'll wait for the next upgrade, I'm still happy with my iphone 8 GB. I do have to watch how much video that I sync.
BTW, The elgato usb stick works great for recording all your tv shows and watching them when commuting.
But honestly I still have about 1 Gig free, and that is with +-2.5 gigs of music on it (one fixed favourite playlist plus one dynamically generated playlist of all 3-stars least played) and 6 episodes of CSI-something and half a meg of user-contributed programs.
If I'm going to travel for longer than an hour or two, I'll bring the laptop along.
@Dirk:
Apple rechnet nun mit 100 USD = 90 EUR
459 EUR für 32 GB iPod touch, 369 EUR für das 16 GB Modell.
Ja neh, is klar.
