Manu Katché
by Volker Weber

Alexander recommends Manu Katché, Playground. Very similar to his debut album Neighbourhood, Playground is really a great recommendation. Music for the middle of the night or a lazy afternoon. Alex has more: Herbie Hancock and Pat Matheney are absolute no-brainers. But I will have to check out Mario Biondi. He is not yet on my Sonos.
Wonderful recommendations, Alex.

Small correction: Neighbourhood was not his debut album (but the first new album in a long time - see manu-katche.com). All fellow drummers know him for his impressive work with Peter Gabriel, Sting et. al., but he never became as well known as his famous colleagues like Dave Weckl & co.
I had the priviledge of seeing him live once with his jazz formation - wholeheartedly recommended!
I had the pleasure to experience Pat Metheny, Christian McBride and Antonio Sanchez live at the Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA a while ago, wonderful!

Day Trip is superb, I agree. Bright Size Life is still the most magical album though :o)
May i invite you to some more laid back music...
Launch the player at the front page and listen to "Good excuse". It's not Manu but really nice to listen.
And if you are in the mood for a little different blues:

Sehr guter Tip !
