Salesforce for Google Apps

by Volker Weber

Live today, we're happy to unveil Salesforce for Google Apps, a new product for all of those using Salesforce.com available at no additional charge. It brings the collaboration and communications features of Google Apps directly into the user experience of Salesforce.com, and is focused on streamlining the activities most frequently requested by our users. (There's more detail on our Enterprise Blog.)

All of this integration came from their user community via their "Idea Exchange". Looks like the concept works. Good stuff.

So why can't Salesforce.com bring themselves to integrate with Notes 8 until the summer of 2009? Is it a religious thing? That, I could understand.

Andy if Notes 8 were a cloud application I bet ya they could do it very quickly. In order to integrate Notes 8 they have to code for Windoze and not in their multi-tenant platform built on Java and Oracle. Ping me offline so we can catch up on the Notes 8 / Sf.com saga.

I like how the "official google blog" is using Youtube to host the video describing the service...

Marc, it's their company after all. :-)

Andy, it probably makes more sense to go after Google Apps first. Notes 8 is not really deployed anywhere yet and Google Apps customers have already adopted the SaaS model.

Yes, it is their company, but "Google Video" is the brand with the stronger connection to the company name :-)

Just turn it on

This is what I see in my Salesforce Admin console.

Looks pretty simple.
