Reservations of an Airline Agent

by Volker Weber

In five years, I've received more than a boot camp education regarding the astonishing lack of awareness of our American citizenry. This lack of awareness encompasses every region of the country, economic status, ethnic background, and level of education. My battles have included everything from a man not knowing how to spell the name of the town he was from, to another not recognizing the name as "Iowa" as being a state, to another who thought he had to apply for a foreign passport to fly to West Virginia. They are the enemy and they are everywhere.

They are even here. :-)

It is funny, but I have heard several of those jokes before. The Buffalo one I heard a while back. And the one about Macon obviously could not have happened over the phone.
But I agree that many Americans are pretty stupid. On the other hand, I met some Swedes as well as Germans that are pretty clueless as well. :-)

That's what I mean with "here".

Sounds like it might be a bit made up. There is no exit 35 on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Richard - I'm shocked that would happen!....though we do lack in certain areas still a pretty good place to live, just like most of our homes.

@Rich - You're wrong! I flew there just last week! The plane was late, of course...
