Last call for ILUG 2008

by Volker Weber

Ilug 2008

Most of the seats are gone, hotel rooms are filling up, RyanAir is getting greedy. Time to make your call. Paul has published the agenda. Get your seat while they last. That includes sponsors.

Looks like Ma Blue still needs thinking time...

No, Ma Blue does not, and I'm offended that we've collectively become the vowe.net punching bag on this.

As I said the last time the tired meme was brought up, IBM is sponsoring ILUG. Our sponsorship was confirmed about six weeks ago. Other sponsors can confirm this by looking at the latest sponsorlayout.pdf, where IBM has stand number 20.

I'm not sure why the person who makes the logos on the ILUG site hasn't added IBM to the sponsor list, we're putting a good chunk of money (with four zeros) towards the event as well as at least seven speakers.

Sorry Ed, that was not meant to offend you.
I was - same as you - surprised not to see the well know logo on the page and assumed that still some paperwork needed to take place. I honestly had no doubt IBM would sponsor ILUG, given the huge participation of speakers.

Seems to be a lot of confusion over this, a while ago it was made clear that IBM was sponsoring, they are one of ILUGS Primary sponsors and as you can see from the agenda ( that I posted Volker :-)) are contributing some excellent speakers with some fantastic sessions.

Now the mystery over the logo not on the web site yet is very simple, we asked all of our sponsors to send us the logo that the wished us to post. We have not recieved the logo that IBM wish us to use yet and I'm sure that that is an oversight and easily rectified. Seeing as its causing such a fuss we can scrape one off a website and use that vs waiting for the official one that IBM want us to use.

Phew all simple and sorted, now back to the job or trying to organise a conference while holding down a full time job.

See you at ILUG :-)

Eileen, you should have a logo from last year. If not, I can send it to you in the proper size.

Read and digest

:-)

I was wondering about that, too, Ben.

I suppose, barring written permission to use the actual logo, they could put up a BOLD RED message (preferably with the blink tag, 'cause we loves us some blinky text) saying, "Yes, IBM absolutely IS sponsoring the conference! Now knock it off!"

*snicker*

Well, whatever, the ILUG site now has the IBM logo. However it got there, the problem seems to be fixed now.
