Crackberry 9000 first look

looks like it is a heavy brick. disappointing.

Had this Blackberry been released two years ago I would have been impressed. Now, after having had the iPhone for about four weeks the (new) Blackberry OS looks very old school. Don't get me wrong, the Blackberry (still) serves a different audience than the iPhone but that's about to change very soon. Once you're used to a touch UI that look as nice as the iPhone UI does you (I) can't go back. BTW after my pleasant iPhone experience I reminded myself that I still own a Nokia E61i and E51. Boy, do they suck in comparisson. The only thing I'm missing on my (cracked) iPhone is UMTS. Can't wait for June...

Amen for iPhone vs. E61i - used to love my E61i, but the browser (and that's comparing EDGE to 3G - browsing just feels faster on the iPhone) and most everything else sucks in comparison to the iPhone. The only exception is the availability of the clipboard and Exchange support...

but there is a lot of stuff packed into this device (which is still 'small' than the current iphone): GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, GPS, Camera, ...

it has a faster processor than the iPhone ...

on the other hand I do not really want to compare any BlackBerry to the iPhone - the are to different, at least their target group of consumers

the iPhone is "cool" - no question, but I would not change the keyboard of my BlackBerry Curve against it

what makes the BlackBerry a BlackBerry is the "system": over the air syncing of calendar, contacts and tasks that just works, push email with fantastic attachment support

lets see what the iPhone 2.0 brings in kind of "enterprise features"

2 of my colleagues were early adopters of iPhone, they've both since sold them.

My spanish colleague, whose English language efforts can be minimal at times simply said "it was crap" and then proceeded to mutter on about there being no tactile feel for the keys and no easy way to unlock and then redial. On his Nokia he just hit green twice.

Jan, I still love the E61i. It's a bit slow but works well as an email machine.
