Juggling iPads
by Volker Weber
Two iPads out, one in. And it's a breeze. Remove from iCloud account, wipe, restore from backup. I wish that all other devices I juggle were as easy.

Das Backup/Restore über iCloud ist seit Jahren das beste von allen. Windows Phone ist mit 8.1 auf dem richtigen Weg, allerdings müssen die Apps (wie auch bei ios) das Backup nutzen. Alte, ungepflegte Apps profitieren also nicht automatisch davon.
I've found restore is fine to a point. For me it has never restored any profiles that are installed which means I have to re-add email accounts.
Are your backups encrypted?
Nope.
That makes the difference. iPad only backs up credentials when you encrypt the backup. It's a simple switch in iTunes.
iOS Backup/Restore is truly excellent.
But just to clarify that I haven’t been missing something: the option to encrypt the backup and therefore store login credentials only exists with local (i. e., iTunes) backup, right? Which is probably good from a security perspective, but makes iCloud backups less useful than they could be.
As far as I can see, this hasn’t changed with iCloud Keychain, either.
