It's actually quite easy

Oliver S started a Hangout with you today while you were away.
Kids, don't iMessage me. Don't SMS me. Don't BBM me. Don't WhatsApp me. Don't HangOut me. Don't call me. I have way too many machines that will take your message and ignore it. But there is one thing, that always works:
Send me an email. Put your wish in the subject line. We will work it out from there.

Email is dead according to the gurus ;-)
That's why you need new gurus once in a while.
I heard that too. Email went to the wayside along with the telegraph
Geht mir ähnlich. iMessage? Landet im iPhone in der Tasche. WhatsApp?
Da kannst Du Dir ganz viele Nachrichten schicken.
Email is Dead.
Notes is Dead.
BlackBerry is Dead.
I have therefore come to the conclusion that as I only work with the dead I must either be a Zombie, a Necromancer, an Undertaker, a Pathologist, or a Very Strange Person.
Has snail-mail become obsolete? No. Are companies decommissioning email servers? No. The problem is not the preferred communication channel. The problem lies with the people. Most of us are acquainted to rant our thoughts in 160 characters or less. We have a hard time to sort out our thoughts and write that down in proper sentences. Also, the keyboard on Smartphones and tablets do not really help to create lengthy pieces of text.
So, I endorse the method (email) and effective communication skills (use of Subject field, proper worded information) full! Any information I receive that take me longer than 50 milliseconds to understand is discarded or replied with a request to explain what has been said are what is asked from me. Long live email!
