We are now entering a new realm

I can't help but chuckle when I see tech bloggers discuss Apple watch prices. This is no longer tech territory. Apple is offering loads of options to "express yourself". In watch territory that means you show your wealth.

There you have it. What's your message?

Exactly. 100% right on.

Although at 11k it would then compete against some beautiful and awesome offerings in the watchmaking world. We'll see how it pans out

Frank Quednau, 2015-03-10

@Frank: Exactly. And a Breitling, IWC, whatever will last. An Apple Watch lasts till Version 2.0 ...

Lutz Hildebrandt, 2015-03-10

Brilliantly brief :).

Ingo Seifert, 2015-03-10

Do I understand this correctly that the watch does not work without the (i)phone? Meaning it would be useless as a fitness tracker since I would have to always carry the phone with me during a run?

Jochen Kattoll, 2015-03-10

@Jochen: From my understanding, you will not need the iPhone to track. Apps on the iPhone will help you to analyse the data the watch is collecting for a more detailed analysis. But you can track and see the basic fitness data without carrying the iPhone with you.

Jan Füllemann, 2015-03-10

Thank you, Jan.

Had this chat many times with people.

"Who would spend that much money on a watch!?"

Me: It is not aimed at you.

"You will need to replace it in 2 years"

Me: It is not aimed at you.

The edition is for people where 10k is a drop in the ocean. They will be limited in production and in certain circles will fly off the fricking shelf. Unfortunately I am not in those circles.

Paul Mooney, 2015-03-12

> Unfortunately I am not in those circles.

Dang. I would want to visit your on your yacht. Maybe Bruce then.

Volker Weber, 2015-03-12

Shall sent the chopper over to collect you.

Paul Mooney, 2015-03-12

:-)
