Bei den HomePods passiert noch was
Wir benutzen zwei HomePods für den Fernsehton. Das geht nur mit HomePods und nicht mit HomePod minis. Man stellt im Apple TV einfach ein, dass der Ton zu den HomePods geschickt werden soll und damit ist der Fernseher außen vor.
Was aber passiert mit dem Ton aus anderen Quellen? Der kommt bisher aus den Lautsprechern des Fernsehers. Mit dem neuen Apple TV 4k gibt es aber noch einen zweiten Weg, den der Fernseher erst mal unterstützen muss: eARC oder HDMI ARC. Unserer kann theoretisch HDMI ARC, aber bisher kriege ich es nicht hin. Der Fernsehton ist komplett abgehackt.
(e)ARC steht für (Enhanced) Audio Return Channel, also verbesserter Audio-Rückkanal. Da schickt der Fernseher die Audio-Kanäle zurück über das HDMI-Kabel, in diesem Fall zum Apple TV 4k. Der schickt es geschwind an die HomePods und -et voila – der Ton kommt aus den HomePods.
Die dicken HomePods aber kann man bei Apple nicht mehr kaufen. Mit den neuen HomePod minis geht es nicht. Da fehlt also was. Ich tippe auf Nachfolger der HomePods. Mindestens. Was meint Ihr?
iPad Pro :: Wie schnell ist schnell?
MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac 24″, iPad Pro. Das ist nun die fünfte Maschine mit demselben Prozessor, dem Apple M1. Ich halte nicht so viel von Prozessor-Benchmarks und das können deshalb andere viel besser als ich. Aber ich schaue gerne mal, was beim Benutzer ankommt und nehme dafür den Browser-Benchmark JetStream2. Der misst den ganzen Stack aus Maschine, Betriebssystem und Browser. Ihr könnt direkt vergleichen und denselben Benchmark in Eurem Browser laufen lassen. Vergleicht auch mal die verschiedenen Browser auf Eurem PC und Ihr werdet schnell bei Microsoft Edge auf Chromium-Basis landen.
Was sieht man auf dem Bild? Dass der iPad Pro selbst den neuesten ThinkPad Yoga mit dem Core i7 der elften Generation mit Microsoft Edge locker abhängt. Das schafft auch das iPhone 12 Pro mühelos. Und wo steht der iPad Pro 2021 im Vergleich mit iPad Pro 2020 und iPad Pro 2018?
Hier zeigt sich, dass der Unterschied zwischen A12X und A12Z zu vernachlässigen ist und dass ein A14 auch nicht so viel schneller ist. Aber ein M1 bringt eine ganz andere Leistung an den Start.
Ich liebe die iPad Pro 12.9 Zoll, seit ich den ersten 2018 in die Hand nahm. Aber das sind richtig teure Maschinen, die vierstellig kosten. Wer sich überlegt, lieber ein 11-Zoll-Modell zu kaufen, dem rate ich dringend zu diesem iPad Air. 256 GB Speicher, die gleiche Leistung wie das iPhone 12 Pro da oben im Bild. Das ist ein Top-Gerät.

Here you will find a set of ABX tests allowing you to compare lossless and lossy compression in a variety of formats and bitrates. This site is still in its infancy, and the number of tests available will probably grow over time.
Well, they did not. The site was built in 2014 and updated four days later, and then never changed. Looks like nobody really wants to know whether they can hear the difference between different encodings.

Clubhouse räumt auf
Neulich habe ich mich über einen Verlust von Follies bei Clubhouse gewundert und vermutet, dass Clubhouse einfach aufgeräumt hat und Fake Accounts gelöscht hat. Das liess sich leicht durch einen Scheinriesen bestätigen:
Wenn deine Gefolgschaft überwiegend aus Bots besteht, ist der “Verlust” viel größer. So arg teuer kann das auch nicht sein, wenn sich jemand nur zum Trollen mal eben 10k Follies kauft:
