Sidebar shoot-out

Another side by side comparison of Mozilla and Internet Explorer. While Microsoft forces you again and again to use MSN for search and inserts commercial messages into the sidebar, Mozilla gives you a clean list of search hits from Google or dmoz.org. I know I can install Google's search into the IE sidebar, but I cannot switch MSN off when I mistype a URL and those pesky Microsoft icons and shortcuts seems to come back every other Update Of The Week.

mit einem kleinen eingriff in die registry kann man den IE aber - was die seitenleiste betrifft - von der msn-seuche befreien. aber du hast recht, mozilla ist einfach besser. die sidebars unterstützt aber auch opera. und wenn phonix sidebars auch unterstützen kann bin ich glücklich. dann gibt es für mich keinen grund mehr IE zu nutzen :o)
Ich habe einfach den Eindruck, dass MS mich mehr zu meinem Glück zwingen will, als mir lieb ist. Ich muss auf einem Server Internet Explorer installieren, damit ich ihn administrieren kann. Wenn ich den dann alle Woche aktualisieren soll, dann will der Server auch noch booten, damit die Installation vollständig ist. Passt schlecht zu einem Server. Warum zwingt man mich also, das Biest überhaupt zu installieren.
Wenn ich mich in der Adresszeile vertippe, kriege ich nicht etwa eine lokale Fehlermeldung, nein, ich darf noch mal schnell zu MSN, damit das die "Leading Search Site" wird. Dafür darf ich nach jedem größeren Update die Links auf "Kostenlose Hotmail" etc wieder aus der Adressleiste löschen.
IE4 war besser als Netscape, IE5 sowieso. Ich finde, der Gipfel war mit Internet Explorer 5.01 erreicht. Seitdem geht's bergab. So wie mit Netscape nach Version 3.
Opera hat immer meine Sympathie gehabt, aber richtig gefallen her er mir eigentlich auch nicht. Mozilla habe ich ab .92 gelegentlich, ab der 1.01 beinahe nur noch verwendet. Heute ist IE das Rettungsboot, wenn wieder mal ein Unternehmen zu torfnasig ist, und inkompatiblen Quatsch programmiert.
