Paparazzi takes screenshots of websites
by Volker Weber

This very simple tool takes screenshots of websites which do not fit on one screen. You specify the desired width, minimal height and the URL. The program displays a preview and you can save the screenshot to PNG. The image above is a scaled down screenshot of Apple's iMac page.

Thanks for the hint, I've been looking for a tool like that!
Argh. Mac only again. ;-) That kind of tool is the only screenshot utility I'd ever call useful. Any hints about something similar for the other OS?
Yes! url2bmp.exe - to be found at http://www.pixel-technology.com/ under Download (select first the english version at the top right corner)
Small but works. Thanks.

Pardon my amusement, but usually those of us on this side of the fence are to be found saying 'Argh, Windows only again!' It is nice to see the tables being turned, to an extent.
@Oliver:
If you're interested in (commercial) solutions for the other operating system with a bunch of other features you might want to try either HyperSnapDX or SnagIT. I found that Snag does a better job of capturing scrolling contents whereas HyperSnapDX is a lot more user-friendly - especially when it comes to saving the screenshot.
