SubEthaEdit 2.1 is out
by Volker Weber
My favorite OS X editor has just been updated:
The new version adds some often requested features: A UNIX command line utility to enable complex and interactive pipe workflows with your terminal. Overhauled printing, including all bells and whistles, even with collaborative metadata. Exporting to HTML, again with metadata. Completely user customizable syntax highlighting through styles. Support for editing files as administrator. Improved AppleScript support to allow control of sharing features.

But it's really slow, isn't it?

Not for me. But my files are hardly larger than three or four screen pages. If they are larger, I made a mistake. ;-)
I know this shouldn't matter, but I love the icon! :-)
Has anyone ever used the collaboration features of this editor with any success? It appears everyone has to be on the same local network, and that you can't involve people from your iChat buddy list. Still, the Rendezvous integration looks very interesting.
Yes, I have. You only need to be on the same subnet when using Rendezvous. If you have SubEthaEdit installed, click on this link: see://www.codingmonkeys.de. It takes you to their public server. You need to have one machine that can be addressed with a URI to asymmetrically connect people behind NAT routers.
