Software Update

by Volker Weber

We had the dinghy in for scheduled maintenance and it has received a software upgrade. Ute says that the automatic transmission is completely different and changing gears is much smoother. Really looking forward to try that out tomorrow.

Interesting observation, indeed. I've been driving a... car like that once. Noticed the rather long gap the automatic transmission produced changing gears. Would be interesting to know if the new software improved that, too. Nice picture, btw.

Certainly there wasn't much room to go the other way with it.

Ed, you probably had a much more recent firmware than we had. But what do you know you big honking SUV driver. ;-)

How would you translate "Rennsemmel" or "Asphaltblase"?
This car has one of the highest values of fun per kg you will ever find in a car (maybee due to the lack of kg?)
;-) stw

Boys, i tell you: on sunday my wife and i changed cars to return home and i told my son i see troubles when my wife started with the smart. I took 500m for her to get a nice picture from a speed control. Anyway the new Tiptronic at the steering wheel pushes the fun factor even higher...

Concerning this I would prefer Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo3. Yes I know about the crappy interior but a quarter mile in 12 sec tells it all! With 4WD! Oh, almost forget. Porsches are slow! Except the ones redesigned by RUF.

Martin Schroers, 2004-12-07 10:16

You can still get the most fun with the right bike!
vmax downhill > 100km/h
weight = 6,81kg!
Power? Depends :-)

Früher dachte ich auch immer, die Smart-FahrerInnen nicken mir freundlich zu. Mittlerweile weiß ich: die Automatik hat mal wieder geschaltet.

Joerg Richter, 2004-12-07 11:01

Huh! First photo catch of the Colnago Pro Team 2004! Pricing? I bet you get a Smart for that. vmax downhill > 100km/h Where? Colorado? Mauna Lea ? Bergisches Land? Sächsische Schweiz? If I am lucky forcing my hands not to touch the breaks and reach 70+ I can't get my mind from thinking about fissures in the frame somewhere.

>> am meisten Fun pro kg macht ein Motorrad.

Da würde ich nun nicht widersprechen wollen ;-) Speziell wenn sich das Verhältnis PS/kg stark der 1 annähert.

>> Concerning this I would prefer Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo3.

Ok, mine wasn't an Evo3 but still ... yes, the HF Integrale is a hot car. In fact, mine was so hot that it decided to have a real burn out in the middle of a traffic jam. But I have to admit that the yellow and red flames nicely contrasted with the black painting of the chassis :-D

Boys, you saved my day. What a funny discussion.

Joerg, this was a good one - somebody should translate it :-)))))

Translation of my posting, 2004-12-07 11:01: Always thought drivers of Smart cars are nodding their heads because they're greeting others. Driving such a car myself I learned: it's just the automatic transmission, shifting gears.

In Babelfish's words:

In former times I also always thought, the Smart FahrerInnen zunicken to me friendly. Meanwhile I know: the mechanism switched times again.

or, Systran (via Sherlock)

"In former times I also always thought, the Smart FahrerInnen zunicken
to me friendly. Meanwhile I know: the automatic switched times again."

What is it with Systran...?
