ihkd.de launches

This is the second site I built with Textpattern. Although Textpattern is a weblog publishing platform, I am using it as a general purpose CMS for a simple reason: The CMS interface is very straightforward and can be used after just two hours of instruction. Textpattern is published under the GPL and thus can be used to build sites on a very low budget. I would not want to build anything with an extensive navigation or with lots of functionality but as a straight and simple CMS I like it a lot. The only gripe I have is that the developers of Textpattern seem to be unable to publish timelines and stick to them.

I may have a few bugs in the CSS, so I would be happy if you could test drive the site in a variety of browsers and report if it is looks different than the picture above. I have had reports that the logo drops to the bottom of the left column but have been unable to reproduce this behaviour.

Be gentle on the authors. The content is not yet where it should be when the site is finished. They are artists and not web publishers and these are their first steps on the Internet.

Update: Pascal writes, that the logo (the left margin) drops when the window is resized in Internet Explorer 5.5.

starke Farben :-) looks good. Did some wild click festival and couldn't get any errors. Sorry ;-)

Gestestet mit FireFox 1.0.2 unter WinXP SP2.

Ich konnte keine Fehler feststellen. :-)

Camino 0.8.1 on Mac - the central image of paintpots, overlaps the right hand column when page is set to less than about 900 pixels. this is also true with Mozilla 1.8

Explorer 5.2 on Mac - the horizontal rule under the menus disappears, and the logo drops to the lower left of the page.

I resized a few things so that the left column does not drop as quickly.

Personally, I do not like the "headers as permalinks"-strategy. Such links feel strangely misplaced and might also be misleading to readers not too familiar with blogs.

apart from Windows setup (above entry), here is SuSE 9.0 using Firefox 1.02 (german). The links have an odd bright green and turn blue only after hover with the mouse.

... and just a small typo: "3. Ausbildunsstruktur"

interested in KDE? ... really?

looks like KDE 3.1.4 doesn't like CSS :-( but you probably knew that, right?

and because I'm such a nice guy, here is the Opera result (7.23 on Windows XP pro).

Page "Ausbildung": righthand side menue overlaps picture in any case, even thought the window is large enough.

this is a screenshot of the search result while it was loaded ... took several seconds (between 5-20). Looks like an Opera problem, but still wanted to show you.

No, I did not. And if it does not work in KDE, I am not too concerned. I am expecting 90%+ percent IE, 10%- Firefox and hardly anything else.

Even so, the site works in Lynx. ;-)

Stefan, your "this" link ends up at /fucku.gif. Tsk.

oooops sorry, I checked it when I posted though. OK, I'll send it by email and you may edit this f... link. Sorry.

I can also vouch for the 'logo dropping' in IE 5.5 (err)

There's some pretty nice designs on http://www.oswd.org but you have to go through the dross to get them :0)

70 #header h1 a {
71 color:#00000;
72 text-decoration:none;
73 }

http://www.ihkd.de/?q=\)
http://www.ihkd.de/?q=\.
http://www.ihkd.de/?q=\/
