Skype not behaving well
by Volker Weber
If Skype is reporting that I am "not sharing my details" with you, you are not alone. A number of my contacts have asked me whether I dumped them off my buddylist. Well, I haven't (unless you are using "a message to all my buddies"). If you think that you should see my presence and Skype only displays a question mark, please dump me off your buddylist and add me again (volker.weber).
This is not an invitation. If I don't know you, I won't add you. ;-)

Well, for me this title has a slightly different meaning. Usually, Skype is technicaly working well. But, Skype not well behaving is true in my experiences in a total different way:
Last year, before going to Lotusphere 05, I bought into SkypeOut by spending 10. I used about 4. When I came back this year before LS to look at my Skype Account, they had scrapped the rest of about 6, in the meantime they have changed their conditions and applied that changed conditions BACKWARDS to my account, so the money is lost, if you dont use it within a given time. My complaints have never been answered! At least here in Switzerland this behaviour is illegal: you cannot change the conditions afterwards without mutual consense.
Ok, because I felt, I'll need SkypeOut, I went ahead and payed another 10 by traditional bank-transfer. Guess what? I have never seen this money apear on my account!
So, your title is really: Skype not behaving well. I would even say, behaving unethical. For me a reason to slowly migrating away from Skype and using other services instead. There are also technical reasons to do so btw.
Jens
Jens, are you sure, the conditions were changed and the change applied to existing accounts? I kind of remember to have signed up for SkypeOut for Lotusphere 2005 and that the same conditions applied back then as well.
