Kids, don't try this at home

Pretty typical NYC riding actually. Should give you an idea why bike messenger is the fastest way to send stuff around town. Actually, most east coast city messengers ride like this. The wide angle lens compacts everything horizontally, too, which adds to the drama passing those busses and taxis.

Still hella impressive.

Geez, and I thought I know how to ride bikes. =-0

oh, i missed vowes flying circus on his Birdy. ;)

I gave up counting on heart stillstand moments after the 40th...

Reminds me of a holiday full of biking in the toskana in Italy. The first three days were weird because if you met some Italian bike drivers you would think they were mad. Crossing red lights, driving like fishes in the ocean. All the think a german biker would never do. When on the fourth day a 60 year old white haired lady was passing me by when i halted on a red light i thought ok lets do it and the rest of the two weeks were adrenaline and pure fun.

"Unfortunately" riding like that in Berlin is difficult because the traffic is flowing much faster. Many bikers ignore red lights here, but they usually are a bit more cautios then in the film. I was most impressed with the speed and the technique the bikers approached red lights and crossing traffic. They took the left side or middle of the road, then slightly turned right into the flow of the traffic and crossed lane by lane like that. In Berlin I only upset some car drivers because I rarely use the bicycle lanes, which I often consider dangerous and unsafe at about 25+kmh.
BTW using the middle of the road or riding into oncoming traffic is much safer and easier than one might think. Doors don't open and the biker is visible. Of course this works best with slow traffic. The oncoming traffic watches you but both parties know it is up to the biker to react. I would also say that because a bicycle rider is always physically active, reaction is faster than for example on a motorbike (and of course the speed is not potentially as high). A bicycle helmet still allows you to listen to the traffic. It's a great rush.

Isn't it a pity we didn't see one of them having a collision and having his head cracked open. Wouldn't that have been 'impressive' and a 'rush'?

There is nothing laudable about this kind of stupid, anti-social behaviour. It's this complete lack of concern for other people and for the law that means that the vast majority of criminals are men.

Think about it.
