Royale Noir theme

Royal Noir theme

Download here. Unpack and copy to "c:\windows\resources\themes\royale noir". Then click on luna.msstyles. Go to the Appearance tab and you will see that you have two choices under “Color Scheme.” Select Royale Noir.

Windows XP no longer has to look like Playmobil. :-)

Not bad, but how to get rid of the blue background color if you select any item after clicking on the Start-Button?

Much, MUCH better. Now installed on Stinky!

That's my "royal" favorite: System 5 Shell Theme

That is a bit too artsy for me. Linux has tons of these, and I generally find them overdone. Royal is a theme designed by Microsoft for Media Center, and Royale Noir is a variant which never made it out of Microsoft.

Switched - and still happy :-) The only thing that worries me - as a multi-window-user - the slight difference between active and non active windows.

I turn all that luna style theme rubbish off...slows the machine down and wastes pixels - Windows 2000 look for me!

... nowI know how vowe spents the day ;-)

What a relief...

Is it just me or does anyone else see a slight resemblance to Vista (sans Aero glass)?

@Chris: that's the idea isn't it? Luna was / is part of the Vista theming I thought? I must confess, I've ignored Vista pretty much so far.

I've lived with the theme for a day now, and I do prefer it to the other Windows themes (if still a little "chunky" for my taste).

I can't see how it takes up more graphics processing than any other theme though Colin!

Luna is the standard Windows XP theme. It is chunky, but it does not require any additional graphics processing. Only the animation effects do.

Great! Now it looks like Playmobil Royale Noir.

@Ben - well if I go into "performance" on a Luna themed XP box, and select "adjust for best performance", my XP box reverts to a W2K look ;)

But yes, as Volker says, its really the fact that this turns off the animation effects.

@Colin - Unfortunately I have to support users who insist on keeping the My First Computer look on XP, so I'm subjected to the preschool graphics. I just turn off all the animations to make it perform as well as possible.

@Charles - one of the best reasons to be the architect of the companies SOE - users have no choice! ;)

I'd like to save another theme here - perhaps someone likes the ubuntu hardy heron look, too: Here's the theme for Windows XP. Especially the blue variant and the XCursor theme (integrated in zip-file) is my new fav.
