Your next BlackBerry

blackberry

Somebody posted pictures of the new BlackBerry on howard-forums. Boy Genius picked them up. RIM hates it when that happens, because you might postpone your purchase of an 8700 until this comes out.

Thin as a Pearl, full keyboard, no camera. I am expecting it for the end of the month.

A really nice device. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Will it support GPS?

Hmm, I wonder about the security of the Blackberry and (of course) the E61. APOP, https, SSH, GnuPG, etc. are SOME hints...

Felix, I thought it would but then I heard, it won't. We have to wait and see until we have a device in hand. The Pearl supports GPS but only through BT.

Henrik, you may also wonder about IMAP, SMTP, HTTP and lots of other abbreviations. But you are missing the point. Wonder about device security.

Now it is more obvious why they are suing Samsung over the BlackJack!! Very BlackJackish!!!!

It looks about the size of an iPod. Cool.

The pics have been removed from HoFo ;-)

I wonder if it supports 3G and can be used as a modem by a Mac. Oops, that sounds a little specific, I know, but that's what an E61 can do over the current BB 8700g....

I would only expect EDGE/GPRS support - same as on the BlackBerry Pearl 8100. Everything related to 3G would be a surprise to me.
The only way to use the BlackBerry 8700g as a Modem with a Mac is a 3rd party solution. For the Pearl it works without this product as it supports the DUN Bluetooth profile. Volker posted a link with instructions a few months ago.
