You have to be British to try this
by Volker Weber
Here is the preview. Then click the picture to watch what happens. Yes, this is a Reliant Robin as a space shuttle. Don't worry, there is no passenger in the car.

You also have to be British to know what a Reliant Robin is, without following your link ; -)
I love those Top Gear bastards!
Pick me, pick me!
It's a three-wheeler which can also be driven with a motorcycle license. One of those cars always gets hit by Mr. Beans Mini in his show
No, i didn't cheat! ;-)
Beats Mythbusters any day.
Stories like this is one reason why we love the good mother vowe :-)
I was watching that saturday night , what really made me laugh was how disappointed they were when it did not work !!
Well, I'm not convinced - sure, the Reliant Robin is 'pointy at the front', but there are other cars that are arguably more streamlined (although this may perhaps be dubious at the point of atmospheric re-entry) and also even lighter than the Robin (and may be more capacious too).
If they wanted to launch one of them, I might even volunteer as a qualified crew-member....
I am sorry, but I still don't know what a Reliant Robin is after watching the movies and looking it up in the dictionary. Would one of our British friends care to elaborate? =)
In the original post you may find the words Reliant Robin rendered in red, which means this is a link. Move your mouse over this link and gently click your mouse button.
@ Nick
But that's FRENCH............. we'd have other reasons to launch a french car into space ;-)
Jacqueline, isn't that a french name? ;-)
@Eileen: where are you located? Top Gear is shown on Sunday nights at 8pm on BBC2. I am amazed that you can watch this a day before it is aired on BBC.
Now I'd really like to know how much that stunt cost!
@Andy - Speaking of cost I would gladly pay my TV licence fee again just to see them do that. Inspired madness.
Ah, I obviously got the wrong tube.
The 2nd video is now gone: "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by British Broadcasting Corporation".
Well, I am bummed that it is not available anymore.
