iPhone 2.0 software is live

Come and get it here until Apple makes it available through iTunes. Download and put the file into your ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates folder. Then you need to update iTunes:
Then connect your iPhone and do the update.
AppStore is live as well. Check the AIM client. It plays a little trick on you. When you put it in the background, you are being disconnected from the service, and when you switch back to it, it pretends you are connected, and then connects in the background for you. Of course you will not be receiving any messages while the device is sleeping or you are running a different app.

You can actually also press Option (Alt) while clicking the "Search for update" button and select the new firmware file from the location you downloaded it to.
