Netgear EVA 9150 now available

This might as well be the mother of all media players. Or, at a SRP of 499 € it better be. Same disk cartridge as the ReadyNAS, comes with a 500 GB user replaceable hard drive. And, if my EVA 8000 is any indication, will play anything you throw at it. I worry a bit about the fan on the back.

The current "king of media players" is to my knowledge (and some others also) the HDX 1000. But after looking at the specs of the EVA 9150 this looks like a worthy contender. Currently i'm satisfied with using the PS3 as a media player, but the lack of MKV support hurts badly, and HDX 1000 or the EVA will play just more file formats.
There are a few "network media tanks" like the HDX1000 and the Popcorn Hour that are based on the the same architecture with slightly different outputs and UI. At almost twice the price, I'm not sure what the EVA is bringing to the table. One thing that gets me is that none of these have gone to gigabit ethernet which seems obvious for the kinds of video files they support.

Rafael, not sure I will have one. If you like your 8000, I don't see much reason to go to the 9150.
Are there any notable differences apart from the diskdrive?
It seems to sell for around 380 Euros and that would be more than double the price of the 8000. And that is a lot for a diskdrive and a fan...
Or am I getting a wrong impression?
I think I finally want to try one of these. Maybe not the 9150 (street price apparently around 390€ currently) but guess what, the 8000 is available for as low as €159. Any information about the 8000's WAF?
The deal breaker is that it doesn't do streaming Netflix or Hulu.. I know that's not an issue for users in europe, but those are nice features to have here in the US. I can buy a used Xbox for less, that does more, even if I don't play games.
I'm lucky with my "old" EVA.
Don't believe that the new one is much better than the old EVA. We will see.
