Sorry Google, you can Keep it to yourself
by Volker Weber
It might actually be good, or even better than Evernote. But I still won’t use Keep. You know why? Google Reader.
'zactly.

same here - am now looking to move as much as possible to services that I pay for or host myself - Google Reader was a wakeup call for me :o)
Especially because not too long ago they killed Google Notebook (july 2012), and now after they simply forced all notes into google docs, they launch a successor without any kind of migration path? they could have just waited those 8 months and migrated notebook to keep..
Maybe if they kill google reader this july, they will introduce a successor in march 2014?
I wrote almost this identical article on my way to BLUG on the flight. I share the sentiment.
Reminds me of what Yahoo did with Yahoo Billpay. After getting burned on that and seeing them shut down other services, I completely abandoned Yahoo as a trusted platform. Arguably Google killing Reader is worse, since one could argue that Billpay wasn't used by very many people yadda yadda. If they can kill Reader...
Having recently committed to Picasa/Google+ as THE place to store my photos online, this moves gives me pause.
