Improving my English

It is very difficult to improve if everybody tells you that you are good. I am thankful that Andrew has been helping me from time to time to spot some of my errors. Now he is taking it up a notch and sent me this handy style guide. Let's see how this works. Thank you, Andrew!

Well I applaud both Mr. M. and yourself. I admire both of you enormously. You beat my German / French / Spanish / Italian hands-down :-)
The plan appears to be to beat you in English. Not that I would dare to try.
I still like good old Strunk & White.
I'm married to a professional editor and communicator, and I was taught English at a time when grammar was not taught. My English is never good enough! So you can have the satisfaction of using English more correctly than I do :-)
German speakers are much better at pointing out language mistakes than are English speakers. :-)

I hesitated for a while to send you Fowler's Modern English Usage, but I thought the compact, concise nature of this style guide would suit you better.
And I'm happy to repay in a small way the effort behind vowe.net, which is a daily read.
My recommendation: Subscribe to The Economist, excellent apps, professional native speakers read The Economist to you, word by word, week by week.
