IBM Verse UI challenges :: Icons

Verse has lots of tiny icons. Some of them aren't obvious. Thankfully you can hover over them and learn what they do. I am still trying to find the icon for "Empty Trash". Has anybody been able to spot it?

Is that an umbrella icon for "Out of Office"?

Bruce Elgort, 2015-05-23

It appears to be.

Volker Weber, 2015-05-23

IBM, well.... Lotus was always great in inventing non-standard icons, were not they?

IBM: Think
Apple: Think Different

It is not an umbrella.
It is a sun shade, because you might be on the beach during your holiday.

If it has to be explained, it has been done wrong.

Sunglasses would have been a better choice

thorsten ebers, 2015-05-25

@Thorsten: Sunglasses? The future is not _that_ bright...

I have posted a few of my own thoughts about this -> http://domino.elfworld.org/whither-ibm-part-1/

Hogne B. Pettersen, 2015-05-26

Hogne, I can assure you that IBM is completely deaf to this kind of feedback. I mean, you don't understand. That should be clear, right?

Volker Weber, 2015-05-26

@Volker: It seems IBM Norway isn't deaf. I'm currently at the Norwegian IBM User Goup meeting (ISBG) and a couple of IBM Norway's people were not amused.

So, they came up to me and offered me the chance to test IBM Verse with my job email so that I could actually do a full scale test with all the analytics IBM promises via Verse.

I think that was a nice move on their part. I'll do a blog post after testing that for a while.

BTW, Part 2 will be up sometime today.

that is not an umbrella, that is a mushroom
